Throughout this week, we’ve touched on how smart home systems can seriously impact the value of your home. We mentioned smart security and smart lighting, but there are so many more impressive systems you can invest in, each with endless products to choose from. There are numerous smart devices available that are easy to pack up and take with you when it’s time to move out of your home. However, some smart features such as motorized blinds, irrigation systems, and wall switches are an embedded part of the property and can be really attractive to potential buyers.
The truth is, you will have to jump through some hoops and put in some effort when it comes to handing over your smart devices. For example you’ll have to log out of all associated apps, delete accounts, and ensure the new owners understand that you are no longer able to control the door locks and cameras. Regardless of the transition, smart home systems will seriously make your house stand out from the rest.

Motorized Blinds
Motorized blinds are definitely a pricier smart home investment, but are always well worth it. Aside from adding a modern and tasteful aesthetic to your home, motorized window treatments provide you with privacy, temperature control, lighting control, energy savings, and much more. You can precisely control your shades super easily because you can control them in so many ways including your smartphone, tablet, handheld remote, or even through voice command by using voice assistants such as Google Home or Amazon Alexa. Many systems can even be put on a specific schedule so they can raise or lower at different times of the day without you having to even think about it! Unfortunately, it is unlikely that you will be able to pack up your huge motorized shades and take them with you into your next home. So, while spending a good amount of money on something that you may end up leaving behind may sound painful, new buyers will likely pay a premium for a house that already has such a luxury item installed in it.
Smart Thermostat
Smart thermostats are another awesome smart home device that has a lot more benefits than people realize. A smart thermostat, also known as a connected or communicative thermostat, allows its owners to create automatic and programmable temperature settings based on you and your families daily lifestyle, weather conditions, and temperature preferences. The biggest difference between a regular thermostat and a smart one is that a smart thermostat has the ability to learn a household’s daily patterns and outside environments and adjust the temperature according to the time of day, outside temperature, and whether or not the house is occupied or about to be occupied. This is also beneficial to saving energy and money because it reduces the use of heating or cooling systems when no one is home.
I don’t know if I am just lazy, but there is nothing worse than being in bed ready to sleep, when suddenly you are uncomfortably cold and you have to get up, walk across the house, and turn up your thermostat. Luckily, if you invest in a smart thermostat, you won’t have to deal with this. Since smart thermostats adjust to your environment and usual preferences, you are unlikely to be uncomfortable with the temperature at night since your thermostat will automatically go to the temperature that you prefer. However, if this does happen, you can simply pick up your smartphone lying next to your bed, go to your controlling system app, and fix the temperature through there. It’s as easy as that!
Multi Room Audio System
No matter who you are, where you came from, how old you are, you probably love listening to music; it’s just a fact of human nature. These days, there are so many awesome options when it comes to installing sound systems in your homes. From in-ceiling speakers to just standard sound bars, you’re likely to seriously benefit from having good quality sound in your home. However, if you are looking to increase your home’s value and sell it for a great price when you’re ready to move out, having in-ceiling or in-wall speakers in your house is the way to go. Many of our clients opt-in to get multiple speakers throughout different rooms in their house. By doing so, you can control your music from different locations in multiple ways such as using your smartphone, wall mounted display, or just your voice commands. You can also control which type of music plays in different rooms.

All in all, smart home technology will benefit your life in many ways in the present by making your life more enjoyable and convenient and in the future by raising your home’s value when you’re ready to move!
